Geelong Stars Set to Shine
20 April 2010
The dream of becoming a debutante will become a reality for a group of people with disabilities when the Zonta Club of Geelong host a Presentation Ball in Geelong on May 21.
Geelong based disability service provider Karingal, is partnering with Zonta in this event.
Local businesses have the opportunity to purchase tickets to attend this exciting event, and participate in an evening that will be one to remember. Tickets purchased help minimise costs for ball participants.
The Ball will see approximately 30 men and women presented to the Mayor of Geelong at the Capri Reception Centre in North Geelong.
According to Karingal General Manager Robyn Bradshaw, this event has quickly become the talking point throughout the organisation.
“Our participants are really enjoying learning the dances, and are looking forward to getting dressed up and being presented to a room full of their friends and family, as well as members of the Geelong community,” she said. “We’re very excited about making this event a night to remember for everyone.”
It promises to be one of fantastic entertainment, with band Cool Change and local entertainer Tim McCallum.
Karingal began in 1953 with a group of Geelong parents who formed a play group for their children, each with a disability. Since then Karingal has emerged as the region’s leading provider and advocate of services and support to people with a disability or disadvantage.
The event, themed Starry Starry Night, is being hosted by women’s service organisation Zonta.
“The mission of Zonta International is to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy, and we are proud to be hosting this fantastic event”, said Jane Adornetto, President, Zonta Club of Geelong.
Corporate tickets cost $70 and are available from Leigh on 5241 7091 or Melissa mfarrell@karingal.org.au
