Planning for the future gets underway

As 2011 comes to a close many of us take the time to reflect over the year that has been.
For Karingal, it has been filled with many positive outcomes, but one of the most important things for us to focus on now is how we plan to deliver quality services to people with disabilities and those who are disadvantaged into the future.
Over the past few years Karingal has taken a significant strategic approach to service delivery.
While the current strategic plan and related initiatives have provided Karingal with a foundation that has strengthened and developed the capability and position of this organisation within the Geelong region and across the state – the time has come for a review.
Global Leadership Foundation is beginning the process to form our next strategic plan to ensure we remain innovative and forward thinking to meet our clients’ needs over the next five years and into the future.
The planning process will examine where Karingal can best place its focus and how we can build and strengthen our capability.
It will also look at where we can continue to create opportunities to provide support, and how Karingal will continue to deliver the services it develops.
One of the keys to this process will be inviting key internal and external stakeholders to be a part of the process.
This is such an important step because transparency and consultation will only strengthen the goals we set going forward and the outcomes these produce.
Information will begin to come out this month and early next year about ways people can be involved and give their feedback in forming the plan.
Once the research phase is completed, the Board and Executive Team will begin the strategic planning process where we will review everything from our Mission and Vision to developing draft goals for the next five years.
The consultants will then begin the process of forming a draft plan which will pave the way for the future of Karingal.
This is a very exciting time for this organisation and we look forward to having the input of all our stakeholders, from parents and friends to staff, volunteers and other organisations outside of Karingal.
The next 12 months will not only be about planning for our future, but celebrating our past.
In 2012, Karingal will celebrate its 60th year and there will be many activities throughout next year to get everyone involved.
As we prepare for this pivotal time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with Karingal for a wonderful year. Please have a safe and happy Christmas and we look forward to next year, which promises to be very busy, but very rewarding.
